German equatorial observatory-class mount for payloads up to 150 kg, featuring absolute encoders, dual-axis tracking, Linux control and ColdTemp upgrade for operation down to −40 °C. Mandatory shipping crate with pier adapter #1454199. Counterweights and PSU not included.
Description
The 10Micron GM 4000 HPS II is the flagship model for permanent installations requiring extremely high payload and precision. It supports satellite tracking up to 5°/s, offers average pointing accuracy under 20 arcseconds and typical tracking accuracy of ~1"/15 minutes peak-to-peak.
On-axis high-precision absolute encoders ensure that the mount never loses orientation, even after power failure or manual movement. No realignment is required. The mount automatically compensates for polar misalignment and flexures via its dual-axis tracking.
This version includes the factory-installed ColdTemp Upgrade, enabling continuous operation in harsh environments down to −40 °C. This upgrade includes:
Ultra-low-viscosity grease for worm gear and bearings (rated to −60 °C),
Axis thermal compensation springs,
Embedded Linux PC with extended XT survival pack,
High-durability internal wiring with low-temp copper alloy and silicone jackets,
Encoders modified for −40 °C continuous use,
Extended cold chamber testing
Wi-Fi upgrade is not available in ColdTemp versions.
The embedded control system allows standalone use via the rugged metal Keypad with a heated display, or complete remote control via Ethernet with Virtual Keypad, ASCOM driver, Clock Sync and Multi Mount software. No external PC is required in the field.
The advanced firmware includes:
Multistar pointing model (up to 100 stars),
Dual-axis tracking and assisted polar alignment,
Sidereal, solar and lunar tracking,
Satellite tracking via TLE management,
User-defined database objects,
GPS/ClockSync/manual time sync with full UT1/UTC support,
Electronic balancing, RS-232 dome control, multilingual interface and remote diagnostics.
