Description

The Baader AstroSolar Binocular Filter 70 mm is designed for safe visual solar observation and solar imaging with binoculars and camera lenses. Built with AstroSolar Safety Film OD 5.0, it reduces solar radiation to a safe level while preserving fine detail and image contrast. Unlike many filters that stretch the film, this model is mounted entirely stress-free to retain diffraction-limited quality.

The mounting cell combines a stabilizing plastic ring with an aluminum front frame, one side shortened to allow compatibility with virtually all binoculars, even when the central bridge is nearly closed. Three injection-molded centering bolts with brass inserts and rubber grip faces provide secure adjustment (inner clamping range 101 – 116 mm, outer clamping range 75 – 90 mm).

Non-rotating aluminum sliding fasteners with index scales allow quick and repeatable adjustment. Three safety straps with adhesive Velcro pads ensure reliable fixation under all conditions. The filter comes with black sliding washers, a 32-page instruction manual, and a cardboard storage box for safe transport.
