10Micron GM 2000 HPS II COMBI with ColdTemp Upgrade

Description

The GM 2000 HPS II COMBI replaces both the GM 2000 HPS II Ultraport and the Monolith, combining their key advantages. It features a quick-lock system for portability and an additional heavy-duty locking system for fixed observatory installations. Switching from observatory mode to portable mode is quick by simply removing the locking screws.

All dimensions and mechanical capacities match the Ultraport model. The mount integrates HPS (High Precision and Speed) technology, enabling automatic dual-axis tracking compensation for polar misalignment or flexures. The average tracking accuracy is ~1" over 15 minutes, and pointing accuracy <20", with slewing speeds up to 20°/s.

This version includes the factory-installed ColdTemp Upgrade, suitable for continuous operation down to −40 °C. The package includes:

  • Premium low-temperature grease (down to −60 °C)

  • Axis thermal compensation springs

  • Extended temperature range embedded Linux PC

  • Reinforced internal wiring with low-temp copper alloy and silicone coating

  • Modified absolute encoders for −40 °C operation

  • Cold chamber stress-testing for several days

The ColdTemp version is factory-only and cannot be retrofitted. Wi-Fi is not supported in this configuration.

The new V3 Control Box provides:

  • Modern ARM processor

  • German Binder industrial connectors for all power/data ports

  • Dedicated external Wi-Fi antenna port (disabled in ColdTemp version)

  • High-accuracy PPS-based GPS interface (via PS2)

  • 24V Binder power plug with included cable

  • 6-pin DIN AUX port for enhanced control and feedback

The onboard Linux system allows full remote control via Ethernet using included software (Virtual Keypad, Clock Sync, Multi Mount, ASCOM driver). The keypad enables complete standalone field operation without a PC.

Firmware features include advanced pointing model computation, dual-axis tracking, assisted polar alignment, multi-language interface, TLE satellite tracking, and remote diagnostics via server. Leap seconds and UT1/UTC handling are also implemented.
